Helmer Endorsed for Senate Seat
CHANHASSEN, MN, March 16, 2010: Laura Helmer is the DFL-endorsed candidate for Minnesota Senate District 34. She was officially endorsed at the Senate District Convention held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Chaska Middle School East. Senate District 34 includes all of Carver County as well as Jackson, Louisville, and St. Lawrence townships in Scott County.
“My focus will be on important “kitchen table” issues – jobs, healthcare and education,” Helmer says. “Minnesota faces serious problems that do not have simple solutions and solving them will require difficult, and perhaps at times, unpopular choices.”
“We need forward-thinking leaders who can build respectful relationships that recognize our differences yet manage to find common ground and to think outside the box to come up with creative solutions and create good policy.”
Helmer, 44, has been a Chanhassen resident for 15 years along with husband Bruce and their children, Ali and Greg. Her educational background is in economics and strategic management. She worked in the human resources consulting field for 10 years before shifting gears to become a full time parent and active community volunteer.
